Haley & Derek | The Farms at Woodend Springs Wedding

These two have been married for four whole months! Woo hoo! Man, I can’t believe how time flies. Weddings are just the best. I love shooting them because it is just a day full of love, laughs, and lots of beer! I have known Derek through his older brother since our high school days. We also all attended the same college. So when Haley sent me an email I was over the moon ecstatic to capture their big day. They are one of the best kind of couples because they are laid back, love to have fun, and just really go with the flow. The wedding day was a blast and went off without a hitch. Hear from Haley about some of her favorite moments from the big day:

What was the most memorable experience from your big day?

There are so many memorable moments from our big day! I think the most memorable for me was when Derek (my husband) said his vows. He’s not one that loves to share or feel emotions publicly but he wrote such beautiful vows that made me feel all the feels and reminded me of why I was the luckiest girl in the world to be marrying him! Also, I loved surprising my grandma by having a piece of her veil sewed into my dress and then showing her at the reception!

What is your most valuable piece of advice you can share with future couples planning their wedding?

Don’t get hung up on the little things and make sure that you have reliable vendors (like Kelsey!) knowing that you can trust all your vendors to do their job well and show up, gives you such relief on a day that can already be nerve wracking!

Share how (or why) you chose your wedding venue(s).

We chose our wedding venue based on the nice owners and their architect sketches. Our venue was just a concept when we booked it but we trusted that they would come through and build the venue of our dreams, which they did! Sometimes you just have to move quick with venues in order to get the dates you want!

What was your favorite part of the planning process?

My favorite part of the planning process was towards the end when everything was starting to come together! It’s a lot of work but when you have people to help, it can be a fun process! Don’t be afraid to ask for help from friends and family!
